I had chicken pox as an adult (pregnant too) and have since had shingles (also while pregnant). We exposed all of our kids to chicken pox to try to do it the “old-fashioned” way and none of them caught it. We did go ahead and vaccinate them later. None of them have had it yet. Hope Grant recovers quickly!

I would love my kids to have chicken pox, but no one around my way has them. My ex had chicken pox as an adult and he was off wrok for 3 weeks.

Katrina, I know what you mean about shingles. My Dad had them and it was terrible. We decided against immunization for a multitude of reasons. On of them is because immunity done that way is not permanent and it’s more miserable to have chicken pox as an adult. When the vaccine first came out it was a live vaccine and many of my friend’s kids who went that route ended up with chicken pox right away. They still have the risk of shingles as an adult. So….we just decided to do it the old fashioned way.

I used to wish my kids would get chicken pox to ‘get it over with’ but after talking to one of my relatives about how painful shingles is I decided after much thought to get my kids immunized for chicken pox. (1 in3 people who have had chicken pox will get shingles at some point in their life – so the statitics go anyway).

Good on you to decide to organize your fabric! I have two bins of fabric and always have to practically empty them to find the piece I want. You’re gonna have one awesome “mom room”, I can’t wait to see it when you get it all done.

Toss some marigolds in with the tomatoes! They are a great natural pest repellent
