Meet, Kristen, AKA The Frugal Girl. She’s a homeschooling mom of 4 and loves all things frugal–espeically in the kitchen. It’s impossible not to like her :).
I first met Kristen when I wrote her asking to review my new clothing ebook, and she readily agreed, replying that she also just wrote a clothing ebook and offered a giveaway to my readers.
I was so excited to read her book, and love her great photography and new ideas. I was also very pleased that our books are TOTALLy different. There’s not much overlap at all and you need BOTH, for real.
Kristen’s book is an idea starter with step by step directions for taking used clothing and making it useful again. The book includes 2o illustrated projects that are sure to inspire you on to your own ideas and projects. Some ideas require sewing–but several do not. You’re going to love it.
This giveaway starts TODAY, October 11th and will run through Thursday, October 20th at 8pm. I’ll announce the winner in my newsletter and here on the blog.
It is super easy to enter this contest–simply leave a comment here or on facebook (on this post–and my facebook plug-in will grab it and attach it here.) I would love it if your comment had your own frugal clothing tip, but if you can’t think of one–you can write a mushy complimentary comment instead, bwa ha ha ha.
P.S. As a special limited time offer, use the coupon code halfoff for a $5 discount when ordering Centsable Style.
Looks fabulous! I love books and frugality.
I would love the books, I don’t really have any frugal tips other then using clothes for rags or making rag rugs, shopping at therft stores.
I need this!!!
Love your blog! Love your newsletters! Would love to be entered in the give-away!
Blessings!
Enter me, please! 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway!
love the ideas that I have read so far – hope to win the book and learn even more!
This looks like an interesting book!
I bought an old leather-look sofa cover at a thrift store for $6.00. It had wear spots on the part that people would sit on. I cut it apart and covered four pillows and made a leather stool cover. It really made my living room look nice. Now I am always on the lookout for old leather coats.
This is a great idea. I’d love to get some tips like this.
I love to go garage sailing, thrift shopping, etc. It is so fun to find name brand clothes that are nicer than wal-mart or k-mart!!! I can help clothe all my grandchildren & I get the shopping high from all the eye candy one gets from shopping. T he thought that they look nice, & are warm is satisfying too. I didn’t go broke doing it either!!! I love your tips & also all the neat comments from reders. Thank you!
My kids usually have a t-shirt with a favorite logo on it that gets stained or torn beyond repair. I’ve had success with cutting out the logo and applique-ing it on another plain t-shirt. That way when its the only thing they want to wear on an outing, we don’t look like a ragamuffin crew.
Can’t wait to see if there are ideas to add to mine.
Sounds like a wonderful resource!

I really need this book. :). I hardly know what to do with the clothing I wear and there is so much in that closet that I’m sure someone else (like you two authors maybe) could make many fashion statements!
My daughter was a bridesmaid in her sisters wedding just one month ago. The school Homecoming dance was the next day, so to save the cost of another dress we “blinged” up the dress worn in the wedding and wahlah..a Homecoming dress is born.
It only cost me $4.95.
What a great idea!
What a great idea! We share and trade clothes around here, but I’d love to learn more about repurposing clothes. Thanks for having the give-away!
I sew, so clothes, towels, sheets are all fabric to me. Sheets and pillow cases become napkins, pajama pants and nightgowns, adult clothes get altered into kids clothes, and cuffs are my favorite addition. My kids usually grow up, not out, so I extend the life of pants by adding cute cuffs from cotton prints. Leggings get cut off into shorts, old towels get a cotton backing for bath mats, and old t shirts are great for cleaning and wiping tender noses.
I love to re-use everything possible, and I’ld love to get this book.
I love “thrifting” and my family knows that I hate paying more than $3.00 for clothes. 🙂 I’d love to have ideas for how to update my great finds!
I LOVE being frugal!!! 🙂 PLEASE…pick me! 🙂
I am not good at the whole clothes thing. I am getting more frugal in the kitchen, but could use some help in the closets.
Sounds awesome.
My tip is in the spring I cut off my boys sweatpants to make them shorts for the summer. The knees usually are too worn for hand me downs anyway. Thanks.
I have mostly new clothes, and gave away my old clothes because I lost 66 pounds, but we can all use a makeover! 🙂
I am fascinated by the idea of making over clothes. I don’t sew a lot, but could if I had too. I try to do the Luke 3:16 with clothes I have outgrown or no longer use. It is really fun to do this in a small group and have a Luke 3;16 party.
Well, I never win any of these things, but it doesn’t hurt to try! 🙂 This sounds like a wonderful book and ideas!
Thanks for the opportunity for the drawing! I am the breadwinner in the family as my husband lost his job, and with a family to care for, any frugal tip helps! I share/recycle/reuse, our adult and children’s clothes, with many of my family and friends, and then what we can’t use or pass on, we donate to church, salvation army, etc. I am a teacher and I also pick up free stuff or inexpensive items at yard sales and thrift stores to donate to the clothing closet at my school. My school is high poverty, almost 100%. I know it may not seem like much but being warm and clothed is so important to children. They can’t learn when they are cold or wet or not clothed properly. It’s amazing how much a child’s confidence grows when you make them feel better about their appearance, or how they can focus when they are no longer shivering. I think both books are great ideas!
What wonderful ideas!! You guys are great!!
Sounds great!
My fav way to save is to shop the sales off season, when evertything is 70% off or more and buy for next year. I go end of Aug-Sept for summer clothing for next year, and Feb for winter. I also try to check thrift stores for coats during summer (something that is hard to do, LOL) but can land a great bargain.
