House Tour

Here’s a video tour of our new house.ย  I got a little spooked part way through when the front door blew open by itself!ย  And I wasn’t about to go down to the basement again alone–silly, I know.ย  Butย it’s creepy down there. There is a rat or two living in the house since it was vacant for over a year. And Yikes!!! I just won’t be comfortable there until I’m sure they are “taken care of.” Oops it looks like I shouldn’t turn the camera sideways :p

I’ve added some extra spam filters to the blog and wonder if it will still let comments through at all. I’m sending this one as a test. If you get a minute would you try leaving a comment so I can make adjustments if necessary?

WOW!!! That is awesome! Our goal for the new year, since we’ve paid off our townhouse and saved up quite a bit, is to find a foreclosure and buy it cheap, fix it up and live there – all debt free. ๐Ÿ™‚
Thanks for showing us…and I’m with you – basements are scary when you’re alone. Even if there is a sauna.

Angela, I couldn’t resist making a comment here. ‘All you need’ to take care of your rats is a black snake. ๐Ÿ™‚ My Grandpa used to tell a story about a hired man who liked to catch a black snake in their orchard and take it to the barn. The minute he walked into the barn with the snake, those rats KNEW the snake was there and could be heard running and bumping about. (Isn’t that amazing?) At this point the hired man discovered that somehow he needed to turn the snake loose, and since it was curled in a ball around his hands (he surely had gripped it right behind the head) that was another interesting thing to observe in itself. Guess he managed somehow ๐Ÿ™‚ So now I’ve made your skin crawl all over again. I do look forward to seeing bits and pieces of the transformation of your new home! Once it fills with people, there will be no more ‘spooky’ anywhere ๐Ÿ™‚

Fabulous house, you guys really were blessed to be able to get it. This is a home your family can use for a long, long, time. Congrats and can’t wait to see what you do with all of it.

Oh Glenda, That’s enough to make me shiver. Our house in stewartsville had lots of mice and shrews. And black snakes would come in to get them. I refused to go to the basement in that house because there was a guarantee to find something.

Loved the new home tour but now my neck is sore from leaning sideways watching the video. ๐Ÿ˜€ The Lord has truly blessed you with such a nice home for your family. I think I know where that lake is because a quilting friend of mine lives close to it if it’s the one I think it is. I’ll have to ask you next time I see you. Thanks for sharing with us. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Donna

Angela before you rip out some of the vintage details….go to RetroRenovation.com and check out what some of the people have done with their older homes. (The tub in the bedroom totally needs to go…lol) But, that green wallpaper in the girls bathroom is awesome. I see so much potential in your new home…congrats!

That is so exciting! My favorite feature has got to be the fireplace. That bathtub though… doesn’t make sense. What were they thinking? Since I’m on a laptop, I just turned it sideways to watch the video. Congratulations to you and your family!

I enjoyed your tour, but couldn’t finish because of my motion sickness. It looks great though with lots of room for everyone!

Loved the tour, but yes, sore neck. I have a couple of guesses of the lake in question. I thought for a while that you had bought our old house, but it was not nearly as big as this one. Can’t wait to see it all fixed up. Yellow tub! Ugh!!!!

My 6 yo says you have the best house ever and is ready to move in. You could almost rent out the attic space as an apartment.

    Congrats on your new house.

  14. Holly Schaad says:

Angela, the house has great bones and I’ve seen what you’ve done with the one before – it’s going to be magnificent! Congratulations!

  15. Judy says:

why did you show the house tour with your camera the way you did, I do not feel as if i had a true picture of your house at all,

    • Angela says:

Judy, It’s because I didn’t know how to use my camera correctly and it took so long to do it wrong that I decided to go with it and get something else done that day. I’d rather do something imperfect than not at all. The readers with an imagination could work with it and those who found it too difficult skipped it. There will be other chances to view the house–so don’t worry :).

  16. Holley says:

I liked what I could see, but between the turning things sideways didn’t work for me. Got a headache, could you maybe do a tour all done in landscape? I really want to see it!

  17. Annie says:

What a wonderful house! Good bones, lots of space! I’m so jealous of the size of the kitchen and all of those pantries! Amazing! And your office! Oh my gosh… how wonderful. I’m sure you will enjoy that and put the space to good use! Hope your family enjoys the house for years to come! Congrats…..
