I love it when you ask questions! That helps me write a post I know you can use :). The answer is Yes! I price watch on Amazon by filling my cart with what I’m interested in and just not buying it. Amazon saves my cart if I’m logged in. I can log in every day and if the price has changed there will be a big yellow box at the top of my shopping cart screen with all the price changes in it. Sometimes the price goes up and sometimes down.
Waiting hasn’t always worked out great. I once found green twin size duvets for $11, thought about it for a few minutes. Price checked other discount stores online. Found out it was the deal of the century and went back to buy and the price had increased to $35. All my checking took maybe 30 minutes. I bought plain white ones on sale a little later at a local store for $14, so all in all, it worked out okay.
I do the swag buck thing too and earn a $50 gift card once a month or so. When I’m ready to buy at Amazon, I click buy later on any item I’m not ready to pay for yet, and then check out.
The beauty of this watching game is often I decide I can live without the item after all. That is the biggest money saver of all :).
What is the swag buck thing?
You shop a lot like the way I do things. I figure most everything that I’m shopping for is a want, so I try to get the absolute best price for it. Plus I love a good deal. But please do tell about swag bucks.
Tracie and TiAnna Mae–there’s a tab at the top of this blog called SwagBucks. Click there and find out all about it! I think you’ll love it too.
I have read the swag bucks info. It seems kind of strange to me to have “someone” tracking all I do. Is it worth it though? It is not like I am doing anything untoward! It is just a big-brother kind of feeling, I guess. However, if it is $ saver, I’ll buy into it, I guess. Angela, could you explain a bit? Thanks! Andrea in NH
Andrea, Nothing we do on the internet is private. I don’t know that swagbucks tracks us anymore than any other site. They give you points for searching the internet because their advertisers (top 10 or so listings on a search) pay them for traffic. I don’t know more than that about it. It doesn’t “save” money so to speak, but you can use your gift cards for necessities if you want to. I use mine for a mix of necessities and rewards that wouldn’t normally fit in our budget.
OK. I’ll read it again. Your point about no privacy on the internet is true! I just never took the time to think about it. I love the ideas of “extras” that wouldn’t normally fit into our budget! Thanks, Angela.
Thank you for re-sending me the link. I didn’t know Amazon would tell you if the price had changed. Good to know. I also use swagbucks, and have gotten about $20 in Amazon credit in the past couple of months, but I don’t search all day, every day…I could probably earn more.
Angela, do you really get a $50 giftcard a month, or did you mean a $5 one? I generally earn a $5 one a month, so if you are getting $50, I’d like to know what you’re doing differently!
I really do earn a $50 card a month. I have a little post about it at the tab above called swagbucks. You need a button on your blog for sure so you can share the news and help people sign up. That helps them and also earns you more bucks.
This is a brilliant idea. I shop Amazon all the time and never thought of it. Thanks for the tip!
