Happy August! It’s my birthday month and my husband’s too. Plus our daughter, his mother, his sister, my grandfather, my aunt, our niece, and a cousin too. Everyone shall eat cake!
It’s also the month that school starts. 3 of our kids start in 9 days. Honestly, I’m not done with summer yet but que sera.
In light of all the crazy that is happening in homes across the nation, this month I want to give you some tips on getting food on the table, staying motivated to cook, keeping up with schedules, meal planning, dealing with food allergies and weight loss plans, and of course stretching those food dollars. I don’t do it perfectly, and struggle with overwhelm just like the next mama, but over the years I’ve looked back at the times that have gone well, and see a pattern of behavior that I want to repeat.
What are your meal time woes? Is it easy for you to get a meal on the table?
Things are getting busy around here too! Can’t wait for your next post. 😀
Hi Angela
I wanted to make up your biscuit recipe mix. Could you tell me how much mix to use to make the biscuits and what I need to add.
Hi Julie, I just updated the page to include that. But here it is for your convenience:
For six biscuits:
1 cup Mix
1/4 to 1/3 cup water
For 12 biscuits
2 cups Mix
1/2 to 2/3 cup water
Thanks Angela
Would you be able to use milk or buttermilk in place of the water?
Julie, Milk would work. Buttermilk is so much thicker than water that you’d need quite a bit more, plus some baking soda to counteract the acid in the buttermilk.
P.S. The mix already has dry milk in it, so water works.
I am sorry Angela I don’t see where the dry milk is included in the mix. Could you help me with this?
Oops, there are two mixes. The all-purpose (like bisquik) mix, and the biscuit mix. The all-purpose has dry milk. The biscuit mix doesn’t. They can both be used for biscuits and are interchangeable.
