Summer Transformation Challenge and Checking In

We are back from Reunion and I have some photos and video to post later from Heather’s baptism.  What a lovely, glorious day!  I’ve been busy catching up on laundry and housework since then.

I also joined Holly’s Summer Transformation Challenge (STC) over at Club FYM.  I love it over there and writing in my journal takes the place of some of why I write here.  So when I’m in a challenge with Fit Yummy Mummy, I tend to want to neglect my blog.  I’m going to try hard not to do that this time.  As part of that challenge I’m writing a meal plan for 1–that coincides with what my family is eating too.  Theirs has more carbs and calories since they are all skinny.  But we are all eating healthy.  Here’s my plan for this week:

You can click on the image to see it bigger if the print is hard to read. PI stands for Planned Indulgence.

Also new for me, I’ve started teaching a sewing class on Monday nights in my new office.  It’s great fun! And right now am working on sewing my fall jacket that I’ve had fabric and pattern for over a year and never made the time to make it. I’m using this from Fabric.com:

Caroline, Right now I use Detour Lower Sugar Bars. Not as clean as I’d like them to be, but they work well for me right now. I used to use Pure Protein bars, but the Detour bars have a smaller serving size and price and taste a lot better. I buy them at Costco (and sometimes Cargo Largo.)

Do you fix separate meals for yourself and your family or are you all on the same meal plan?

    • Angela says:

We eat similar things but I make adjustments for me. My family eats more healthy grains like pasta and whole grain bread, because they need more calories than I do. My subscription based menu plan shows both meals side by side.

Thanks so much for sharing this! I also love your fit mama tips in the menu plans. Have you ever used the prograde products that Holly recommends? Just wondering if the price is worth it.

    • Angela says:

Thanks Renae. I haven’t used prograde yet since I already had some products I was happy with. If Holly recommends it though, it’s the real deal.

I was wondering about the prograde productsor any similiar product as well. Are they ok to use while nursing, as a snack or workout snack?

    • Angela says:

Audrey, I can’t speak to prograde specifically, but I do use whey protein while nursing and did while pregnant also. If you have concerns check with your doctor. Read the ingredient lists on any supplement or meal replacement products and see if you are comfortable with those foods while nursing. Some supplements like “prograde metabolism” have a significant amount of caffeine in them and should be avoided during pregnancy and used with caution while nursing.

Sorry for the short notice and I haven’t checked in on your PJ at CLUBFYM but I’m doing a 2 week sugar free challenge starting on Monday. Let me know if you are keen or any other readers are more than welcome to come past xxx

Hi Dani, I’m so happy you stopped by my blog to connect. Your before and after pictures are amazing–so motivating for me. I love the idea of your sugar challenge, but am not ready to take that leap yet. I am sticking to that rule mostly, but still enjoying sugar or an artificial one in a PI occasionally and find I need to allow myself that emotionally to stay on the wagon. I find that each challenge my thinking changes slightly for the better and hope that one day I will be ready for the challenge.
