Easter is early this year. I’m still not sure what to do for Easter clothes for the kids, but I’m thinking a thrift store-a-thon is called for. Then we might check out Kohl’s, Sears and Penny’s. And if nothing will do within our budget, I’m reserving staying up all night sewing as a last resort.
Do you already have your Easter outfits ready? Don’t tell me if you do. Never mind, Do tell me and then send me where to go for the fashionable and frugal. I’ve been shopping online at various places like Old Navy and Kohl’s, but am pretty disappointed in what’s available for the teenage crowd. Hello! I don’t want my daughter showing up anywhere strapless or haltered and her skirt mid-thigh. Especially not to church. She’s gorgeous already and way too valuable to flaunt around. On the other hand, no need to wear gunny sacks or quilts when there’s modest fashion to be found…..uh, where do you find it?
And then, it’s quite possibly going to be cold. We have 2 feet of snow on the ground today (I’m posting ahead–it’s late February to my fingers but mid March to my readers.) I like the Easter outfits to be something that will boost the summer wardrobe. So do tell. Did I ask that already?
Anyway, here’s what I’ve been pinning to help me get ready for Easter. And note, I’ve been pinning, not so much doing. But I’m sure the doing will come later. I’m a good last minute sort of motivated person :). I have my ideas all jotted down for the kid’s baskets, I’ll share what I’m actually doing later.

This site isn’t inexpensive, but she has amazing things. I don’t know if you are familiar with Caroline’s things or not. http://www.deborahandco.com/womens-skirts/
Rebecca, I love Deborah and Co. Thanks for the reminder! She lives near me and is a dear friend.
Old Navy has cute eyelet skirts that would be cute paired with a cardigan. I have one from a few years ago and it hits me at the knee (I’m 5’2). I think they have new stuff up today.
Christine, That’s a good idea I haven’t thought of. I love eyelet!
sears! We never shop there, but went in yesterday and couldn’t believe the sale! My husband snagged a carhartt coat for $20 compared to $100. I snagged some $44 gloves for $5 and sssooo much more! Our Sears is having an additional 25% off today and we save by being part of their rewars program. 🙂
Kohl’s has some really pretty girls dresses this year and we just got in some cute Jrs sundresses. Next week is Friends & Family, so when I see you today at church, I will give you a coupon! 😉 Anyone I don’t personally know can ask any Kohl’s associate for a coupn!
Ooh, I’d love a coupon. I had to visit another branch this morning with my High School Choir, but I’ll ask an associate. The girls are off school tomorrow so I hope Heidi add I can sneak out together.
Found something in the basement for my 5 yr old girl. A cute dress from Gymboree for 8.99 that I bought off season a couple years ago! And the 8 yr old girl totally searched the thrift stores. Found a Justice sweater dress, her size! And blue her fav color for…….3.00$! So excited. I was ready to give up though. Started looking on eBay, some pretty cute stuff for under $20 bucks which is my “dress” limit. Good luck!!
I haven’t even started to think about Easter yet! I need to get on the ball! I have all girls (6) so a tradition I started years ago that saves me both time and money is I dress everyone in all white on Easter and all black on Christmas. That way, each year I can go to my bins and pull out all the white dresses from previous years, and just fill in for the oldest daughter (if she’s outgrown last year’s dress) and maybe fill in a pair of shoes or a cardigan if needed for those that are between sizes that I have on hand. It’s also easy to find white eyelet and white cardigans at Easter, so when I have to fill in pieces I’m never struggling to find what I need. At Christmas we usually wear Black Velvet in some form or another. Again, easy to find at Christmas time, and it’s a classic look that never really goes out of style.
Christy, What a good idea! I love all white especially–and combined with beach pictures–amazing!
Fresh modesty blogspot has some cute fashion ideas for teenage girls. She also has guest posters, other teens with cool ideas, most of them from thrift stores and no pinafores in sight 😉

Jane, That’s a new blog for me. I’m excited to go check it out.
By the way, my mil showed up yesterday with Easter dresses for my girls. Really cute little girl dresses, and modest, from Sams Club!! She said they were very reasonably priced as well. She got my lil man a really cute shorts and polo shirt too (mot that he’ll be able to wear it considering we still have snow here!).
